What are Lumineer Veneers ?

Lumineer®s are porcelain veneers that are wafer-thin, just like contact lenses, and are fixed over the original teeth without necessitating the reduction of vulnerable tooth structure (not like traditional veneers). They are ultra-thin, (approximately 0.2 mm) custom-made shells that are translucent, making them look very close to the appearance of natural tooth enamel. Lumineers are a pain-free, long-term cosmetic solution for blemished, chipped, stained, or crooked teeth.

Lumineers are the #1 patient-requested veneer system in the world but its popularity has mostly been overseas, mostly in the USA until a few years back as now it is in big demand in the UK too.

Traditional veneers are generally thicker, and thus require more aggressive and irreversible removal of healthy tooth structure. The extensive preparation technique frequently requires shots and anesthesia to minimize sensitivity and pain and typically involves the placement of acrylic temporaries for over two weeks between visits. The minimally invasive Lumineers technique typically eliminates the need for shots or temporaries, so while you wait for your custom-made Lumineers, you’ll look great and feel great. While many dentists offer veneers, not all dentists have been trained to deliver the signature benefits of Lumineers, so make sure you consult with a Certified Lumineers Dentist.

Who can have Lumineers?

Dental Lumineers® can work in a variety of situations to improve your confidence, smile and overall appearance.Whether your teeth are discolored or chipped, or moderately crooked, Lumineers is likely a perfect solution for you. The key to the perfect veneer is for no-one to know you have them, so they just look like a perfect smile.

Take this quick and easy self-assessment. Look through the indications below to see if you might be a candidate for treatment.

Lumineers® Treatment in London

You need only 2 easy visits!

My 1st Visit

After your initial consultation, your Certified Lumineers Dentist will take an impression of your upper and lower teeth and determine the shade of white that is right for you. Then the mold will be send to an authorized Lumineers labratory along with photos and other records that ensure the very best case for you. With Lumineers , you don’t have to wear temporaries.

My 2nd Visit

On your next visit, generally a couple weeks later, your dentist will place your Lumineers. Before Lumineers are bonded in place, it is important to try them on to ensure a good fit. Teeth are then moderately etched to prepare for placement and then painlessly bonded without shots or drilling one by one. Your dentist will then check your bite to make sure your contacts are balanced to avoid chipping your Lumineers through the course of daily function.

Our Patient Feeback :

“I came to NW1 dental care initially just for a consultation regarding veneers. After speaking with Dr. Bodane, I decided to go ahead with lumineers and now, six month later, I can certainly say, it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Bodane was really empathetic and went the extra mile to make sure my lumineers were exactly as I had explained I would like them to look. I used to hate my teeth and actually got to a point of being scared to laugh or to even smile properly. Having lumineers has massively changed my life, in the best way possible. Dr. Bodane makes you feel at ease, is trustworthy and overall amazing at what she does. All of the staff in fact are lovely and friendly. I 100% recommend them.” – Katherine D

FAQs on Lumineers

Lumineers are unique in that they are ultra-thin (approximately 0.2 mm) and highly translucent, allowing them to replicate the natural appearance of enamel. While traditional veneers are much thicker, requiring the grinding down of your original tooth structure.

The Lumineers procedure is a completely pain-free. Because they are ultra-thin, in most cases you will get a perfect fit without shots or grinding down of the original tooth structure.

Clinical testing has proven that a Lumineers smile lasts and looks great for over 20 years.

Yes, Lumineers are completely reversible because there’s no grinding down of healthy tooth structure, in most cases. Your natural teeth are still intact and strong.

In most cases, yes! Your dentist will be able to evaluate your teeth and decide whether orthodontics is necessary. If you do not have a severe problem, Lumineers will reshape your teeth, making them look straighter and more uniform, as well as whiter, something you don’t get with braces.

Drink and eat what you want with confidence because Lumineers are applied in the most durable way possible. However, Lumineers don’t replace good hygiene, so you should continue to visit your dentist every 6 months for a check-up and cleaning to keep your Lumineers looking their best and the rest of your teeth and gums healthy.

You do not have to get the other teeth whitened, as they just might match with the veneers. However, if you have discoloured teeth, then you can decide to have tooth whitening if you would like, but it’s not a requirement.

Typically the price of Lumineers is between £900 to £1200 per tooth.  A number of factors will affect the total cost of your cosmetic Lumineers including the office location, the experience of the dentist, and how many veneers you get at one time.

We recommend asking your dentist how much experience he or she has with veneers in general, especially with the type you choose. An inexperienced dentist may not place the veneer properly, and this may require several visits to the clinic to have it fixed.

Lumineers patients know their smile will be transformed in just two or three dental visits and this lifetime investment, for them, is worth any budget-crunching they must do to make their smile makeover possible.
